November 20, Teacher's Day in Vietnam. It's such a great day.
Cards, flowers, gifts, cakes...kids saying "Happy teacher day!" all day long - and the school is hosting a teacher dinner tonight at a cool old hotel by the Saigon River. Jessica gets to come.
Here is what is written in my two favorite cards:
"Happy teacher's day, Ms. Marjorie!" You're a fun teacher. First thing when I stepped into Language Arts class, I thought it will be boring but nah, your class was fun, for a guy hate writing like me." - Long
and this one, from Luan:
"When I study Language Art, I see my grammar is better. Thank you to teach and help my gramma better."
Does anyone know of another country that has Teacher Day? Or perhaps Doctor Day? Lawyer Day?

Doctor's Day
As for lawyer's day, I could only find this quote from Mark Twain:
"It is interesting to note that criminals have multiplied of late, and lawyers have also; but I repeat myself."
Ahhh, Teachers' Day: my favorite Hungarian holiday. I received more flowers on that day alone that I had received in my entire life to that point. I was simply adored...
Oh yeah, Brian, thanks for reminding me that there is a Teacher's Day in the US. I think that once a parent group made the staff lunch or something.
Actually, elementary teachers, at least at my school, were given a WEEK. We were showered with gifts, food, thank you cards, etc. It was great.
You blog me gramma much too better.
Priceless and precious! Love this post and the comments!
