6E is my first class Thursday mornings; every other morning, classes 6A-D come in rather subdued and sleepy. But definitely not these ones. 6E are the Halloween Contest Thriller Winners; they are always choreographing songs and asking me to play their new favorite songs and talking- yelling- in "conversational" Vietnamese for a half an hour before class starts. This morning Weyshan, Helen, Polly and Mia allow me to capture their new dance routine to this song from "High School Musical."
The third video mainly favors Jack and John - two Boy Boys, you know - who LOVE to fight and talk big and make fun of everyone- and who also LOVE really sentimental, soft love songs. They request this song all the time: Westlife's "I Lay My Love on You." I wish the quality was better...the whole class is singing along, but mostly Jack and John.
So the game this week is... sixth grade memories~ I hope 6E inspires you to think of one~

Grade Six was my absolute favorite year of school - I was even awarded the "I Want To Flunk" award at our end of year camp because I was constantly asking my teachers to fail me (which I think should factor into deciding the game winner). Some favorite memories:
- slow dancing at "boy/girl parties" - actually, the mere fact that we described parties as "boy/girl party" - with the arms out straight hands on shoulders feet shoulder width apart and rock side to side while everyone talks about you in a corner classic grade six dance routine.
- our choreographed dance presentation to the song "Wipeout", where we jumped around and one of us would fall on the ground every time we heard the word wipeout (so a lot less artistically advanced than your pineapple princesses Marjie)
- going hiking for a weekend and nicknaming our teacher's husband (who was an additional chaperone) "Pookie" and it somehow being okay that we called him that all weekend...
Ahh those were the days!

Jimmy Seaton invited me to go with him to the end-of-the-year school picnic. My first date!
Oh fun...
- Getting "married" at the D tree during recess, and sharing my first real kiss...
- eating dried top ramen in the bag for lunch
- getting sent to the principal's office for holding hands with a boy at recess - and standing up for myself in the principal's office :-)
and finally...
- sneaking my best friend's dad's cherry schnapps and drinking for the first time - it was gross!
Final quarter my sixth grade year was the last time I ever got straight A's... Actually, probably the last time I ever got more than one "A" on my report card...
I also remember that same quarter, our teacher, Mr. Cramer, gave Pat Fagan a phony report card that showed him getting C's and D's. Pat was devastated! Then, Mr. C quickly brought out his actual report card with another set of straight A's...
Mr. C also had the coolest car - a Triumph TR7; you know - the triangle-shaped car? Plus, he was a kind of long-haired hippie-type. He was so cool...
I also remember the kid sitting behind me (can't remember his name) throwing up on his desk. He was so cool...
Oh, and it was also the infamous year that I beat Mike Zenk in the 60-yard dash on Field Day at the end of the year... I STILL think he actually beat me by a step.
One of my absolute favourites and SO different from Lyle - Westlife! Yo ho!
