Introducing Blog Contest Thursdays...

Count on Thursdays for Sweet Sour Salty Spicy Crunchy Contests. Many times they will be "What is it?" contests, like the mashed brain one from a few weeks ago, and this one here. What is it?
Now, for next week I am hatching a completely different kind of Thursday contest, one that will involve prizes, even. So stay tuned.
Meanwhile...go ahead. This picture was taken in Thailand.

I'm guessing deep-fried goat knuckles. But actually, that may be a little too tame after the mashed brain.

I'm thinking the deep fried head of some kind of bird - maybe a quail? Doesn't look quite right to be a Chicken, but maybe. The beaks have been pulled off.

Dang, I was going to say knuckles too. I guess I should say something diffrent than goat. How about (and I hate to say this ) dog?? Just thinking about my two babies, Penny and Scout, it makes me feel quesy talking about eating any part of them.

different - sorry for the spelling error!

Looks like a pile of doggy chew toys to me. Man, those things are tasty.

No one has the right animal yet. Or chew toy.

Alright, it looks to be a limb separated at at joint ... like the leg of chicken cut from the thigh. But chicken, and I quote Annette, is too tame. Okay, I'll go dog...

Marie, my co-worker, thinks it is the tail of something 4-legged. Sheep?

Cat tail. . .

ooo, ooo, ooo! You KNOW I love contests!

Ok, fried cat legs! I dissected a cat for A&P and that kind of looks like it :-)

All you readers... watch out! You are looking at the winner of the last two Marjie contests! Bring it!

It's not from a cat, a dog, a goat, a sheep or a bird (or quail or chicken). It's not a leg, a tail, an arm, a wing or a knuckle.

And Karyn, my dad won the last contest with his answer "mashed brain." But you have certainly won more contests than him or anyone else.

Deb Walters just submitted a double-guess via email of either "pigs feet" or "rooster talons."

No and no. Not from pigs, either.

Fried pastry with some kind of weird filling. . . perhaps the marrow of an animal or insect bodies like crickets?

Can I make another guess? I'm going to go farther down the 'Oh my' route - deep-fried rat spinal cords. It seems there are an abundance of them.

They've gotta be that old favorite:

Deep-fried Bull Penis.

Oh, the yum.

MUNGO- JUST as I was beginning to fear that no one would even ever guess a cow part, you hit it. Yes, you are RIGHT!

Your prize will be one of these, mailed directly to you.

But Annette and Michelle, you get creative points. When I read your guesses, I actually restrained a gag reflex (something I am all too-familiar with). I have seen a lot in Asia, but I have not seen marrow croissants or rat spines. OH MY.

I am way impressed with Mungo's guess! Way to go! Everybody had very thoughtful guesses...what a crew reading this blog!

What? I won? Yippee! I am so proud. All I want as a prize is my very own bull penis.
